Cookies Make Great Gifts Anytime!

By: Tiffany Gaultier

Most people think of sugary sweetness when they hear the word cookie. Perhaps, you don't even remember the first time that you ate a cookie. Cookies have probably been a special treat since your childhood, when your grandmother made your favorite raisin chocolate chip cookie or your mother made macadamia nut cookies for special occasions. Just about everyone likes cookies of some kind.

Since so many people like cookies, it's no shock that cookie gifts are becoming popular presents. Finding out what the recipient’s favorite cookies are will ensure you have selected the right gift for them. You can always use "reverse psychology" to find out what they like by telling them what you like as they will either agree with you or disagree, thus providing insight on what type of cookie the prefer. When presented properly, a gift of baked goods is received warmly, and most likely they will eat their cookies right away.

If you plan to get a cookie gift for a co-worker or someone you don't know too well, you might consider a cookie basket. Such an item includes something for everyone, because a cookie basket contains many different varieties of cookies. A cookie basket isn't seasonal and can be given for almost any occasion.

A certificate or coupon for a good bakery or an online store with baked goods is a good idea if you're not sure what type of cookie your recipient likes, or if you just aren't sure if a cookie basket is the right gift. This way, they can select the type of cookie they will really enjoy.

Creative Cookie Solutions

Ever growing in popularity, cookie towers and pre-made gift boxes could be a creative and convenient solution for you. They often include a number of different flavors, so your recipient is bound to find a cookie they like. To lend them an air of opulence, most gift boxes and towers come fully wrapped with nice paper and ribbons.

A wonderful cookie related present is a "jar" or "cone" of cookie mix for people who feel inspired to make something. The jar version involves combining all of the solid ingredients in an ordinary glass jar, such as the kind you would buy at a 99 cent store. You may want to have color differences in the layers- for example, brown sugar as the lowest layer, then vanilla, chocolate chips, sugar, cinnamon, and other goodies creating distinctive colors. Then you can place the recipe on a card, and attach the card to the jar with a ribbon.

You can also use additional decorations on the outside of the jar to give it a special appearance. You can buy special bags, resembling the frosting bags that cake decorators use, in order to make a cookie "cone." A recipe tag and colorful ingredients can help make the cone look unique!

With a little creativity, your cookie gift can be a work of art. Most of all have fun being creative! There many are the ways to personalize your cookie gifts.
